Did You Know That A Simple Myth Can Destroy Your Affiliate Marketing Business?

3 Popular Affiliate Marketing Myths Exposed
Affiliate marketing has a low barrier to entry so it is the first place people stop when they decide they want to replace their current income. However, just with anything else that is fairly new or lucrative, there are myths that exist that can hold you back.

A big wishful myth is that there is a perfect affiliate program out there. You will need at least several affiliate programs but you will still need to test which ones you are going to work with. Depending on just one affiliate program will deprive you of the opportunity to make it big as an affiliate marketer. Just take this advice because it will save you a lot of frustration down the road; one program doesn’t have enough offers to test. Finding winning campaigns isn’t very frustrating once you are a member of multiple program and have access to lots of campaigns to test. Another positive of being a member of multiple affiliate programs is that if you are banned from one then your income won’t dry up because you have campaigns running elsewhere. Building your portfolio of networks will be quite easy once you work with ones that you like. Affiliate program reviews and recommendations can be an excellent way of finding new programs but ultimately you will have to experience it for yourself. But still, do your own homework before you join an affiliate program because you want to play safe while taking calculated risks. You also have the choice of joining an independent affiliate program or going with a large network that may have several hundred offers. Now that you have several profitable campaigns, you can increase your income by adding more campaigns, and scaling up the ones that you are currently running.

Many believe that you need thousands of visitors a day to make it in affiliate marketing; not true at all. This is what leads new affiliate marketers to failure because in the quest for getting more traffic, they end up forgetting the golden rule of ‘relevancy.’ Targeted traffic will make you far more money than focusing on sheer volume. When it comes to traffic you want to always focus on the quality of the traffic. For instance, if you have an acne product to promote then you want to focus on a certain age group. It is not uncommon for marketers to make a lot of money with a little bit of traffic as long as it is targeted.

Remember, as an affiliate you don’t need to have lots of flashy banners on your site to get sales. This is a myth that you really need to watch out for because it simply doesn’t work. If you need a better understanding of how to build an affiliate site then pick up a landing page optimization book. Your main focus is to develop targeted content that is designed to make your readers take the next step in the conversion process. The myths surrounding affiliate marketing only have as much power as you give to them. Just don’t fall into the trap that these myths have set for you.
