Email Advertising

July 31, 2010 | Author: | Posted in Advertising

Email advertising has become almost as common as TV, postal or any other advertising. Each day, every mailbox is filled with hoards of information about product offers. Everything from credit cards to mortgage loans to personal enhancement offers is publicized. Though no one is sure whether viewers really acknowledge these offers or not, email advertising has become a very important part of the marketing mix.

Bulk email is one of the most disliked advertising methods on the internet. Sure it is cheap and you can reach thousands of customers but they do look a lot like SPAM. A lot of email readers will click delete on these emails without barely looking at them. It is alright though, to send bulk emails to an emailing list that has been on the net for a few years, has a good reputation and has received permission from the recipients.

There are innumerable cases when people receive emails about Viagra, Hoodia, Cialis, and many others when in fact they haven’t even exerted any effort on searching for details on these. The products like these are just among the most scammed ones. Yes, the internet market is filled with scams and there are still people who get victimized by these hookers. At this point, email advertising gets into the verge of becoming too frustrating.

Advertisements through email have the tendency to irritate the viewers sometimes, because they may clutter the inbox of the recipient. They also take up valuable Internet time and other resources related to it. This is the reason why email advertisements, especially unsolicited messages, have been termed as “spam”. Spam mails are unsolicited messages which are sent to people without their asking for it. The law now bans spam mails.

These can be used from anywhere in the world. Most of these software programs can handle bulk email advertising with no bandwidth or ISP problems. Some programs may also include location and collection of email addresses, generation of automatic replies to email inquiries, automatic removal of un-subscribers from the email list, verification of email address lists, organization of email address lists, and others.

There are many companies that are offering email advertising services. Though these services are not exclusive, many companies have specialized in email advertising. These companies offer several services including designing the campaign, developing the message, sending the mails, and even checking the responses. These companies generally buy lists of email addresses from other companies. Some companies generate their own lists from their database of existing and potential customers.

These addresses are sourced from several email address service websites over the Internet. These addresses are priced between 10 cents to 30 cents each. These companies also offer other services, such as designing the advertisements, sending the emails and tracking the responses.
