I have always enjoyed this motion picture and was happy to see it finally released on DVD.
However, I was very disappointed to learn that the disc is in fact a DVDR, not a standard DVD. As you may notice, this information is not available on the product page nor the exterior case. This would have been somewhat forgivable if not for the fact that there are no special features and no scene selection – not even a menu. The reason for the lack of scene selection is simple, there is only 1 track [scene] throughout the entire film. Poor production from what is essentially a cheap copy.
Good film deserves better treatment. Apparently Amazon has allowed — with their full knowledge — the merchant supplier to substitute quality DVDs with these purple copies. I contacted Amazon and they do not deny this. They should know better. The life span of a DVDR is far shorter than a standard regional DVD. For the price, and lack of transparency in the description, cheap substitution is unforgivable.
The title refers to a band of assassins led by Joan’s [Tracy Reed] straight-forward, seemingly callous, business manner. The `liquidations’ involve close examination of the subjects which lead to quiet observation and preparation prior to the moment of death.
The acting is quite good actually, with Bernard Holly [as Roger] leading the way in my opinion.
This is at least a 3-star feature in my opinion. The women are attractive and often nude. The acting is believable and at times quite good. And the ending has a nice twist. The one last twist [DVDR] is one that all of us could have done without.

The Deadly Females
In savage 1970s London, respectable middle-class housewife slash mother
Joan (Tracy Reed) is uncrowned queen of a generation of gorgeous women
who take time off their regular day-jobs to earn extra income as paid assassins.
“Simple economic necessity in hard times!”
- Michael Grossbard, Screen International
But even in these troubled times, it isn’t all about the money. Some of the
swinging sexy Hit Girls do it for charity. With typical British understatement,
from Abbey Road to Bond Street, liquidations are made to look like accidents
or suicides, even when Joan herself is involved in an aggressive takeover bid.
For uncaring spouses, rapture quickly turns to doom. See golf widows become
real widows, quick as a hole in one. Cheer as neglected wives collect insurance
money and happily move on with their lives. Women like the idea and men,
despite themselves, can’t help lapping up Joan’s leggy man-eaters.
“Reminiscent of The Avengers, Rated R…
Enjoyably cynical and callous. Worth collecting!”
- Alan Brien, The Times
Parental Discretion Is Advised
